Single Family Residence
Located in a beach-side community that is noted for it's quiet streets, cozy homes and traditional aesthetic, this home is designed for a young family that wanted to respect the surrounding neighborhood character while embracing the existing nature on site. To ground the new design within the local architectural language, traditional gabled forms were combined with simple yet bold materials. Stone and weathered, wood siding are commonplace for the area but are elevated through the material selection and implementation. By utilizing an L-shape configuration and varying the height of the upper levels, the new home fits comfortably into the scale of it's context. This configuration also allows the home to embrace an existing maple tree located in the rear yard which acts as a picturesque backdrop from every room.
